The Los Angeles Clippers signed restricted free agent Kelenna Azubuike to a three-year, $9-million US offer sheet on Thursday.

The Golden State Warriors must match the offer within seven days to retain the sophomore swingman.

Asked if he felt the Warriors would keep him, Clippers head coach Mike Dunleavy said: "You just never know. They have got a lot of players at that position."

Azubuike started in 17 of 81 games with the Warriors last season, averaging 8.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 21.4 minutes.

The 24-year-old Brit averaged 7.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 16.3 minutes in 41 appearances, including nine starts, as an NBA rookie in 2006-07.

"Kelenna is a guy who has worked his way up," Dunleavy said. "He is very athletic."

Los Angeles has been active the last two weeks, signing superstar Baron Davis to a five-year, $65-million contract on July 10, and trading Tuesday for centre Marcus Camby, the league's leading shot blocker last season.
