Swingman Hassan Adams inked a two-year contract with the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday.

Adams, 24, was drafted in the second round, 54th overall, by the New Jersey Nets in the 2006 draft. Regarded as a tenacious defender, he averaged 2.9 points and 1.3 rebounds in 61 games before he was waived by the Nets in the summer of 2007.

The six-foot-four, 220-pounder caught on with the Cavaliers in the preseason last November but was also waived. Adams then played for Basket Draghi Novara in Italy for a season before working out for the Raptors at their free agent camp last month.

Last season, the same type of camp resulted in the Raptors' discovery of small forward Jamario Moon, who went on to set team rookie records for games started (75) and defensive rebounds (392).

Adams was among 11 players named on Monday to the Raptors summer league squad, which will play its first game on Saturday.
