Jorge Garbajosa's short career as a Toronto Raptor is over.

The Spanish forward was bought out by the National Basketball Association club earlier this week, and said in a statement Wednesday he's ready to move on.

"I will not complete my year left in Toronto," Garbajosa said, through Spain's basketball federation.

"Now I will have to see what I do in the future. I have not considered anything because I've just signed my departure from Toronto."

"We are pleased that an acceptable resolution was reached and we can finally put this behind us," Raptors president and general manager Bryan Colangelo said.

Garbajosa was a popular player in his 67 games with the team during the 2006-2007 season, adding toughness and defensive responsibility to a club sorely in need of it while scoring 8.5 points and 4.9 rebounds a game.

That ended on March 26 last year on the court at Boston where he suffered serious injuries to a leg and ankle .

Things began to sour between Garbajosa and the Raptors last summer when he chose to play for Spain in the European championships despite the advice of Toronto medical staff and the pleas of Colangelo.

Garbajosa appeared in just seven games in the 2007-08 season before going on injured reserve.

"After a long, difficult and sometimes emotional process stemming from a traumatic injury to a key player, it was concluded that parting ways was the best thing for both Jorge and the Raptors organization," Colangelo said.

The Raptors were not going to allow Garbajosa to appear for Spain at the Olympics, adding impetus to the buyout. He is on Spain's roster for Beijing this August.

"Jorge is perfectly recovered from his injury and this for us is the best news," Spanish federation president Joe Luis Saez said in a statement.

"To be able to have Jorge with us is gratifying because he is a player that has given everything to the national team and he wants to continue to give it."
