Vince Carter, make room for Jamario Moon.

Moon, a rookie forward for the Toronto Raptors, has received word that he'll be among the participants in the Feb. 16 slam-dunk contest during NBA all-star weekend in New Orleans, according to a report Saturday on the Globe and Mail's website.

"I feel great, I'm excited," Moon told the paper.

Raptors officials had no comment when reached by the Canadian Press because the league hasn't yet made an official announcement.

Moon, 27, would be the first Raptor to compete in the slam-dunk contest since Vince Carter — now with New Jersey — won the event in 2000 with one of the most electrifying performances ever seen.

The athletic 6-foot-8 Moon has drawn praise this season for his extraordinary leaping ability, which has helped him average a team-best 1.66 blocked shots per game, along with 8.1 points and 6.3 rebounds.

Moon, who came out of basketball's bush leagues to sign a two-year deal with Toronto in July, wouldn't say what he had planned for the dunk contest.

"I got to keep it low for now," he said after Toronto beat the Knicks 99-90 on Friday night.
