'The Raptor' tore his Achilles tendon in Halifax Friday
The NBA season hasn't started yet, but the Toronto Raptors already received crushing news.
The team's mascot, known as 'The Raptor', tore his Achilles tendon in Halifax during a school visit and will miss the entire 2013-14 season.
The team announced he will undergo surgery and they hope to find a replacement before the start of the season on October 30 when Toronto hosts the Boston Celtics.
Coach Dwane Casey said his daughter cried when she was told about the injury.
