The Nets acquired the 6-foot-10 native of the Republic of Georgia from Philadelphia in exchange for cash considerations. He was selected in the second round (54th overall) of this year's draft. Shengelia played last season for Belgacom Spirou, averaging 8.9 points and 5.2 rebounds in 20 games in the Belgium League. He averaged 10.2 points and 3.6 rebounds in the recent Orlando Pro Summer League.
