Minnesota Timberwolves

Williams finished with 18 points and nine rebounds in a 100-77 loss to Dallas on Sunday.

Williams has averaged 19.3 points and 9.1 rebounds in his last eight games.

Williams had 23 points and eight rebounds to lead the short-handed Wolves in Saturday's 109-96 loss to Portland.

Williams is averaging 20.5 points and 10 boards over the last four games.

Williams had 15 points and 12 rebounds in a 104-94 loss to San Antonio on Wednesday.

Williams had scored a total of six points in his previous two games.

Williams says he is trying to stay patient through fluctuating playing time with the Minnesota Timberwolves. The former No. 2 overall draft pick has not played in four of Minnesota's previous nine games. Coach Rick Adelman has elected to go with veteran Dante Cunningham as the primary backup to All-Star Kevin Love at power forward, and Williams' playing time has suffered.

He hasn't played more than 16 minutes in a game since Nov. 16. Not coincidentally, that is the last game Love missed with a broken right hand. Williams says he just keeps working in practice and staying ready. He says he has not requested a trade, even though his name has been the subject of trade rumors for much of the last six months.

Williams scored a season-high 23 points and added seven rebounds in Minnesota's loss on Friday night.

Williams hadn't scored more than 15 points in any game this season.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have exercised third-year options Williams and guard Ricky Rubio for the 2013-14 season.

Williams appeared in all 66 games for the Timberwolves as a rookie, averaging 8.8 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. The second overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft out of Arizona finished fifth among rookies in rebounding and seventh in scoring last season.

In just over a year in the NBA, Williams has gone from being the No. 2 overall pick to trade bait. But the Minnesota Timberwolves forward says he is taking the rumors in stride. Williams practiced in Minneapolis on Friday in preparation to play with the Wolves' summer league team in Las Vegas next week.

His name was mentioned in possible deals while the Wolves were pursuing Lakers forward Pau Gasol. Now that the Wolves have turned their attention to Portland's Nicolas Batum, Williams has been taken off the table.
