Love is expected to be out four to six weeks after having a buildup of scar tissue removed from his knee. It's the latest injury in a season filled with them for the Timberwolves and Love. After helping the United States win gold in London, Love played in just 18 games this season. He broke his right hand before the regular season, then broke it again 18 games into his return. He averaged 18.3 points and 14 rebounds this season.
Love is shooting a career-low 35.8 percent from the field this season and his 23.3 percent 3-point shooting is his worst mark since he was a rookie four years ago.
Love's seven points were one more than his season low, and his five turnovers were also a season high. He did manage to stay effective on the glass, grabbing 12 rebounds.
Love was simply dominant in a fantasy performance for the ages. His passing ability make him even extra valuable for owners.
Love missed 8 of 10 shots so he is not scoring like he could be but rebounds were easy to come by against a soft Miami interior.
Love had missed one game due to illness.
He's expected to return for the team's game at Orlando on Monday.
Love raised eyebrows with some comments in a Yahoo! Sports story on Tuesday in which he criticized team president David Kahn's personnel decisions and expressed frustration once again with not getting a maximum five-year contract extension last January. The All-Star power forward met with reporters Wednesday to clarify his position. He says he doesn't regret making the comments, but wishes he would not have made them in a public forum.
Love is averaging 21.2 points and 14.2 rebounds in nine games this season.
In eight games since returning from a broken hand, Love has seven double-doubles and is averaging 19.4 points and 14.4 rebounds.
