Philadelphia 76ers guard Jason Richardson will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury. Richardson will soon undergo surgery on his left knee. It will be performed by Dr. Jonathan Glashow of Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York.

Richardson started 33 games for the Sixers this season, averaging 10.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.21 steals across 28.4 minutes per game. He had 40 steals, but missed the past eight games with the injury before the team ultimately decided on the surgery.

Richardson is dealing with a knee injury, leaving his status for Friday's tilt against Toronto in question.

Fantasy owners likely won't miss Richardson too much if he's forced to sit out. The veteran guard is averaging just 7.8 points on 38.0 percent shooting over his last nine games.

Richardson played through a knee injury during Friday's 108-101 overtime win over Toronto.

It looks like it's safe to get him back into lineups.

Richardson came alive with a 22-point effort to lead the 76ers past the Bobcats on Friday night.

Richardson hit four 3-pointers and was 9 of 17 from the field. He had scored a total of 14 points in his previous two games.

Richardson left Saturday's loss to the Thunder with a sprained ankle.

Richardson missed four games previously with the same injury.

Richardson returned from a sore ankle to score 20 points in Monday's 105-96 loss to Milwaukee.

Richardson returned in strong fashion after missing four games.

Richardson appears set to join the 76ers in a major move involving Dwight Howard.

Multiple reports on Thursday said Howard would go to the Lakers, ending months of talks between the Magic and numerous in trying to grant his request to leave Orlando. Philadelphia would get All-Star center Andrew Bynum from Los Angeles and Jason Richardson from Orlando, while Denver would get 76ers All-Star Andre Iguodala, playing for the U.S. men's basketball team Friday in the Olympics semifinals against Argentina.

The Magic traded guard Jason Richardson to Philadelphia on Friday.

The trade was part of the blockbuster Dwight Howard deal that sent 'Superman' to the Lakers.
