Los Angeles Lakers

Gasol will get ultrasonic treatment on both knees in an attempt to regenerate his tendons. The Lakers announced Gasol's plan Wednesday.

The team says Gasol will undergo a procedure Thursday that's intended to improve the health of his patellar tendons by removing scar tissue with ultrasonic energy. The procedure will be performed by Dr. Steven Yoon of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Group.

Gasol showed his versatility as the seventh player to post a playoff triple-double in Lakers history in Friday's 120-89 loss to the Spurs.

Gasol notched his first career playoff triple-double with 11 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. It shows why he is a coveted fantasy player although him and brother Marc are a combined 1-5 in the postseason now. If the Lakers get swept Sunday, as expected now, Pau can watch Marc at Staples Center in Tuesday's Game 5 between the Grizzlies and Clippers.

Gasol had 17 points and season highs of 20 rebounds and 11 assists Wednesday in a 99-95 overtime win over Houston.

Gasol's triple-double was his second in three games. While he was plagued by injuries for much of the season, he's clearly still capable of posting monster numbers.

Gasol turned in his sixth career triple-double and the Los Angeles Lakers rallied in the final minutes without Kobe Bryant to stay in the playoff picture with a 118-116 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Friday night.

Gasol finished with 26 points, 10 boards and 11 assists. He could be counted on for more in the final two games depending on the status of Bryant, who was in obvious pain yet gutted it out.

Gasol displayed his all-around fantasy greatness as the Los Angeles Lakers pulled closer to a playoff berth with a 113-106 victory over the short-handed Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night.

Gasol had 23 points, seven rebounds and nine assists on a spectacular night for his owners.

Gasol has been diagnosed with a tear of the plantar fascia of his right foot a day after he said he felt a pop in the foot during the Lakers' victory over the Nets on Tuesday. The Lakers said Wednesday that an MRI revealed the injury.

The team said the results will be sent to team doctors in Los Angeles for analysis and that Gasol will return Thursday to be examined by team physician Dr. Steve Lombardo and foot specialist Dr. Kenneth Jung. The Lakers say they will give a timeline for Gasol's return after the examination.

Gasol had another strong game on Sunday, posting 23 points and 10 rebounds in the Lakers' win against the Pistons.

Gasol has responded well to being put back in the starting lineup, recording 45 points and 22 rebounds over the last two games.

The struggling Lakers have juggled their starting lineup, moving Gasol to a reserve role and replacing him with Earl Clark.

Coach Mike D'Antoni made the move before Monday night's game against Chicago, hoping a quicker lineup would spark a team that had dropped eight of 10. It comes after Gasol scored 25 points in Sunday's loss at Toronto. D'Antoni says he spoke to Gasol and that it's nothing "against him, it's better for us right now." Gasol is averaging 12.6 points and 8.1 rebounds. Clark is averaging five points.

Gasol scored a season-high 25 points on 10-of-15 shooting Sunday in a 108-103 loss at Toronto.

While Gasol is averaging a career-low 12.6 points, Sunday's effort could be a sign of things to come. Fantasy owners may be running out of time to buy low on the formidable big man.
