The team says Gasol will undergo a procedure Thursday that's intended to improve the health of his patellar tendons by removing scar tissue with ultrasonic energy. The procedure will be performed by Dr. Steven Yoon of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Group.
Gasol notched his first career playoff triple-double with 11 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. It shows why he is a coveted fantasy player although him and brother Marc are a combined 1-5 in the postseason now. If the Lakers get swept Sunday, as expected now, Pau can watch Marc at Staples Center in Tuesday's Game 5 between the Grizzlies and Clippers.
Gasol's triple-double was his second in three games. While he was plagued by injuries for much of the season, he's clearly still capable of posting monster numbers.
Gasol finished with 26 points, 10 boards and 11 assists. He could be counted on for more in the final two games depending on the status of Bryant, who was in obvious pain yet gutted it out.
Gasol had 23 points, seven rebounds and nine assists on a spectacular night for his owners.
The team said the results will be sent to team doctors in Los Angeles for analysis and that Gasol will return Thursday to be examined by team physician Dr. Steve Lombardo and foot specialist Dr. Kenneth Jung. The Lakers say they will give a timeline for Gasol's return after the examination.
Gasol has responded well to being put back in the starting lineup, recording 45 points and 22 rebounds over the last two games.
Coach Mike D'Antoni made the move before Monday night's game against Chicago, hoping a quicker lineup would spark a team that had dropped eight of 10. It comes after Gasol scored 25 points in Sunday's loss at Toronto. D'Antoni says he spoke to Gasol and that it's nothing "against him, it's better for us right now." Gasol is averaging 12.6 points and 8.1 rebounds. Clark is averaging five points.

While Gasol is averaging a career-low 12.6 points, Sunday's effort could be a sign of things to come. Fantasy owners may be running out of time to buy low on the formidable big man.
