The Cavaliers have waived Harangody.

Harangody recently underwent arthroscopic knee surgery and is expected to be sidelined for another month. The former Notre Dame star appeared in 42 games over the past two seasons for Cleveland, averaging 4.5 points and 3.5 rebounds. He did not play in a game this season.

Harangody underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Friday and will be out approximately six weeks.

Harangody had been bothered by soreness and swelling. The third-year pro has not appeared in a game this season.

Harangody is out for Cleveland's preseason game against Indiana on Tuesday night because of a sparined left knee.

Harangody averaged 2.9 points and 1.6 rebounds in 21 games for the Cavs in 2011-12.

The Cavaliers have signed Harangody to a $1.1 million contract for next season.

The team made a qualifying offer to the 24-year-old on June 30 and he signed it Wednesday. Harangody averaged 2.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 11 minutes in 21 games last season for Cleveland. He made one start for the Cavs, scoring 16 points with 10 rebounds and three steals at Washington on April 14. The 6-foot-8 former Notre Dame star made 16 starts for Cleveland's D-League affiliate in Canton. He averaged 19.4 points and 12.6 rebounds.
