Los Angeles Lakers

Hill played for the first time since undergoing left hip surgery Jan. 23 in Wednesday's Game 2 of the Western Conference quarterfinals.

Hill came off the bench with 3 minutes left in a 102-91 loss to San Antonio. He was told on Jan. 12 that he needed season-ending surgery and he decided to get a second opinion. Hill got hurt on Jan. 6 against Denver.

Hill returned after missing three games and scored 14 points in Saturday's 118-115 OT win over Golden State.

Hill was out with back spasms.

Hill has returned to practice with the Los Angeles Lakers, but will sit out their next preseason game alongside Dwight Howard.

Coach Mike Brown says Hill didn't do any contact drills, but participated in about two-thirds of Thursday's workout. The backup big man has been sidelined with a herniated disc in his back since early last week.

Los Angeles Lakers forward Jordan Hill has pleaded no contest to assaulting his girlfriend in February and was sentenced to one year of probation. Hill, 25, will also have to pay a $500 fine and undergo counseling. The assault charge was reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor.

Hill is charged with assaulting Darlene Luna on Feb. 29 at his apartment while the New York Knicks' former first-round draft pick was playing for the Houston Rockets. Luna, 29, cried on the witness stand as she recalled the incident and claimed Hill still hasn't apologized. The two avoided eye contact while they were in the courtroom together. The 6-foot-10 Hill played for Houston from February 2010 until March, when he was traded to Los Angeles.

Hill's agent says the backup big man is returning to the Los Angeles Lakers. Kevin Bradbury tweeted the news Friday about Hill, who made a late-season surge for the Lakers.

Los Angeles acquired the 6-foot-10 forward at the trade deadline in March in the deal that sent Derek Fisher to Houston. Hill played in just seven games in the regular season, but seized postseason playing time with energy and rebounding. He averaged 4.8 points and 6.3 rebounds in the Lakers' 12 playoff games. Hill, who turns 25 next week, made a free-agent visit to Minnesota. He was the eighth overall pick in the 2009 draft by New York.
