Bynum has not played this season because of bone bruises in both of his knees. The 25-year-old is an unrestricted free agent and may never play a game for the Sixers. Bynum was shut down in training camp as a precaution and the Sixers originally hoped he'd be ready by opening night Oct. 31. Instead, he's struggled with swelling in his knee.
Multiple reports on Thursday said Dwight Howard would go to the Lakers in a major deal. Philadelphia would get Bynum from Los Angeles and Jason Richardson from Orlando, while Denver would get 76ers All-Star Andre Iguodala, playing for the U.S. men's basketball team Friday in the Olympics semifinals against Argentina.
A lot of players found new homes in a blockbuster deal in which the Lakers obtained the services of Howard. Bynum was sent by the Lakers to the Philadelphia 76ers.
