The Andrew Wiggins trade talk has simmered for now, if only because of an NBA rule and the 2014 first overall draft pick’s recent contract signing.
But that hasn’t quieted the talk entirely.
Or the silly and uncomfortable interviews the Canadian basketball player must endure. Take a look and listen here …
“I just want to play for a team that wants me,” Wiggins said during the interview above.
“Do you think Cleveland wants you,” Wiggins is then asked.
His response, following a long and awkward pause: “Yeah, I hope so.”
The sound issues that lead to missed questions and stilted responses only add to the hilarity.
Wiggins, a 19-year-old small forward, has had his name linked to trade rumours since it was reported the Cavaliers would pursue all-star forward Kevin Lowe.

There is talk Cleveland has softened its stance about including the six-foot-eight athlete in a package for Love but under NBA rules Wiggins can’t be dealt until Aug. 23 after signing his rookie contract.
“@JoshEberley: Cleveland safely putting some rumours to bed by inking Wiggins.” << Good news.— MR HIGH TOP (@1Akintunde) July 22, 2014
This past season, Wiggins averaged a Kansas freshman-record 17.1 points.
But he might not be showcasing his superior athleticism in a Cavaliers uniform in the future if the team brings in Love to form a “Big 3” with Kyrie Irving and recently re-acquire star LeBron James which some believe would make Cleveland an overwhelming favourite in the Eastern Conference next season.
