(Associated Press file)With Mike Cameron and Jacoby Ellsbury on the 15-day disabled list, the Boston Red Sox boosted their outfield depth by reacquiring Jonathan Van Every from the Pittsburgh Pirates for a player to be named.
The Red Sox announced the deal Saturday.
Van Every played in Boston's minor league system most of past two seasons. He played 18 games for the Red Sox in 2008-09 and hit his first big league homer in the 10th inning of a win last April in Cleveland. He also pitched in a blowout against Tampa Bay.
The team optioned outfielder Josh Reddick back to Triple-A Pawtucket to make room for Van Every.
