Major League Baseball's All-Star Game is expected to return to Anaheim for the first time since 1989.

The Los Angeles Angels had been considered the leading candidate to host the 2010 game at Angel Stadium of Anaheim and MLB commissioner Bud Selig is expected to make an official announcement there on Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The New York Yankees will play host to this year's All-Star Game while the 2009 edition will be played at Busch Stadium, home of the St. Louis Cardinals.

Future All-Star games are expected for Arizona (2011), Kansas City (2012) and the Mets' new ballpark in 2013.

2010 will mark the third time that the Angels have hosted the All-Star Game, with the first being played in 1967.

In the 1989 game, Bo Jackson of the Kansas City Royals was named MVP before a huge crowd of 60,036 at the old Anaheim Stadium.

That type of crowd won't be duplicated in 2010 as the Angels downsized their seating capacity to 45,257 after the NFL's Rams left for St. Louis.
