Baseball's World Series trophy landed in Nova Scotia on Monday, the first time an American team has brought the hardware to the province.
The visit was the result of a campaign launched by the Bluenose BoSox Brotherhood, a group of Boston Red Sox fans in the province. Boston won the 2007 World Series in a four-game sweep of the Colorado Rockies.

"I want every baseball fan in Nova Scotia to think that they can come out and celebrate this as a victory for baseball lovers, not only Red Sox fans," said Jim Prime, a New Minas resident who co-founded the club.
Officials from the World Series-winning team, provincial politicians and local Red Sox fans crowded into Halifax's legislature building for a chance to touch the trophy.
"I'm almost ready to cry, it feels so good. Oh my goodness, it feels so good," said local Red Sox fan Cecil Wright.
Nova Scotia fans spent time with the trophy after it arrived at the Halifax Robert L. Stanfield International Airport on Monday afternoon. A public viewing will be held Tuesday at the Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame.
The ties between Boston and Nova Scotia go beyond their geographic proximity.
After the Halifax explosion, Boston was one of the first to respond with help, and locals showed kindness by remembering each year with the donation of a Nova Scotia Christmas tree.
Decades ago, generations of families also migrated to Boston for work, another reason Halifax baseball fans' love of the Red Sox.
