Cincinnati Reds rookie outfielder Josh Hamilton was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with gastroenteritis.
Hamilton was taken by ambulance Sunday to Lutheran Hospital in Cleveland, where the Reds lost 5-3 to the hometown Indians.

The 26-year-old was diagnosed with an infection of the gastrointestinal tract and listed day-to-day.
"With all the pain he had this past weekend, we just thought it was best to get him examined and see what the doctor says and go from there," Reds manager Jerry Narron said.
Hamilton has played well for the Reds this season, hitting .261 with eight home runs, 18 runs batted in and 20 runs scored in 37 games.
He was named the National League's rookie of the month in April, but missed a few games because of stomach ailment.
"This is the second time in a month," said a worried Reds general manager Wayne Krivsky. "If you consider everything Josh has gone through … to prepare to come into the big leagues, he has been getting it pretty good.
"I am sure it's been a shock to his system, like it would be to anybody. It just seemed to make sense to take a step back and let him get some rest."
Hamilton's pro career was put on hold for more than three years as he battled drug addiction and injuries.
He returned last year to play 15 games for the class-A Hudson Valley Renegades of the New York-Penn League, and earned a shot to make the Reds at training camp.
