The Washington Nationals reinstated closer Chad Cordero from the bereavement list on Monday, and placed pitcher Shawn Hill on the 15-day disabled list because of a shoulder strain.
Cordero, 25, was granted bereavement leave May 8 to attend to his ailing grandmother.

The right-hander had converted just four of eight save opportunities and surrendered 22 hits and 10 walks over 15 1/3 innings before leaving the team.
Cordero is 17-11 lifetime with a 2.74 earned-run average and 95 saves in 238 relief appearances over five MLB seasons for the Montreal Expos and Nationals.
The former all-star, who was drafted 20th overall by Montreal in 2003, posted 47 saves in 2005 and 29 saves last season.
Hill, from Georgetown, Ont., is 3-3 with a 2.70 ERA in eight starts this season, his third in the majors.
The 26-year-old right-hander is 5-8 with a 4.70 ERA in 17 starts since debuting with the Expos on June 29, 2004.
Hill's stint on the DL is retroactive to May 12.
