Pitcher Kerry Ligtenberg inked a minor-league contract with the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday and will attend spring training.

Ligtenberg, 35, last pitched in the majors in 2005, when he surrendered 15 runs on 16 hits over 9 2/3 innings for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The right-handed reliever pitched well at the triple-A level last year, posting a 4-4 record and 3.57 earned-run average with 18 saves in 53 appearances for the Iowa Cubs of the Pacific Coast League.

He struck out 44 batters and walked just six in 58 innings.

Ligtenberg is 17-20 lifetime with a 3.82 ERA and 48 saves in 386 relief appearances over eight MLB seasons with the Atlanta Braves, Baltimore Orioles, Toronto Blue Jays and Diamondbacks.

He missed the entire 1999 season following surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right elbow.
