Phillies pummel Mills, Blue Jays

Raul Ibanez homered and drove in three runs as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Toronto Blue Jays 9-1 on Tuesday night.

Raul Ibanez homered for the first time this spring as the Philadelphia Phillies clobbered the Toronto Blue Jays 9-1 in Grapefruit League action at Clearwater, Fla., on Tuesday night.

Ibanez drove in three runs, while Jayson Werth had two runs batted in and two runs scored for the Phillies, the defending World Series champions.

Eric Bruntlett, Ryan Howard, Pablo Ozuna and Fredericton's Matt Stairs each had an RBI.

Jimmy Rollins scored twice in support of Philadelphia starter Brett Myers, who permitted one run on three hits with three strikeouts in four innings pitched.

Myers evened his spring record at 2-2; Toronto left-hander Brad Mills dipped to 1-2.

Mills lasted 5 1/3 innings, surrendering seven runs — three unearned — and 10 hits with one walk and one strikeout.

Travis Snider homered in a losing cause for the Blue Jays.
