Manager Buck Showalter said that Wolf, who was 2-0 with a 5.28 ERA in five games with the Orioles since signing as a free agent on Aug. 31, felt discomfort in his elbow during the fifth inning of Saturday's start in Boston.
Wolf allowed three runs and seven hits.
Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Wolf was expected to arrive in Baltimore on Wednesday and there's a chance he could be activated before Thursday's game against the Chicago White Sox. Wolf was cut loose by the Brewers after going 3-10 with a 5.69 ERA.
Wolf was 3-10 with a 5.69 ERA in 24 starts for Milwaukee this season. He has lost his last four decisions. His release will make room in the rotation for starter Shaun Marcum, who is expected to return soon from a rehabilitation assignment. Marcum has been on the disabled list since June 23 with a right elbow injury.
Wolf gave up five earned runs in 5 1-3 innings. He allowed just two hits through the first three innings before giving up five hits in the four-run fourth. "I felt good those first three innings," Wolf said. "Even the fifth inning I felt all right. But every inning counts. I've got to do a better job of stopping things when they start to unravel."
Wolf gave up two runs and five hits in six innings against his former team. The lefty won 16 games and was an All-Star with Philadelphia in 2003. He left with a 6-2 lead.

Wolf has a 6.84 ERA so he should not be trusted by fantasy players.
