The Denver Post reports Helton entered his plea Tuesday in an Adams County courtroom in the northeast Denver suburb of Brighton. Helton was arrested Feb. 6 in Thornton, another suburb. Police said he told officers he had had two cups of wine. He issued a public apology later that day and again two weeks later when Spring Training opened.
The 39-year-old hit .268 (11 for 41) with three doubles, one home run and 10 RBIs in 13 games before going on the DL with a left forearm strain.
Helton hit an RBI double in the third, tying Ivan Rodriguez for 20th on the career list with 572 doubles.
Helton had gone 0 for 13 over his previous four games. He's 5 for 25 with three RBIs on the season.
The team says Helton was arrested Wednesday morning in the Denver suburb of Thornton. No other details have been released.
