The 25-year-old Mitchell made one start for Triple-A Tacoma before the Seattle Mariners designated him for assignment April 11. The Mets signed him Monday. Mitchell appeared in four games for the New York Yankees as a reliever in 2012, positing a 3.86 ERA in 4 2-3 inning without a decision. He was acquired by the Mariners as part of the trade that sent Ichiro Suzuki to the Bronx.
