Lynn owns a 2.27 ERA with 47 strikeouts in 39 2-3 innings over his last seven starts at Busch Stadium.
Lynn (5-0) struck out five and walked two, improving to 10-0 in 10 starts and one relief appearance since losing to Milwaukee on Sept. 7. He became the NL's first five-game winner. It's the second straight quick start for Lynn, who was 6-0 with a 1.48 ERA through May 7 last season, then went 12-7 with a 4.46 ERA the rest of the way.
Lynn has won four straight starts with a 2.16 ERA over 25 innings over that stretch.
Lynn struck out eight as he improved to 3-0 on the season.
Lynn has won twice in three starts despite posting a 5.40 ERA.
"Lance Lynn was nasty,'' manager Mike Matheny said. "He got better every single start. He's got a little edge now to him. A lot of it comes from people second-guessing his offseason workout. Good. I hope he carries it for a long time.''
A year ago, Lynn replaced an injured Chris Carpenter and went 18-7 with a 3.78 ERA in his first full season in the big leagues. The problem was that his ERA ballooned to 6.66 in August and he was demoted to the bullpen. Manager Mike Matheny wants Lynn to earn his starting spot. Lynn says it's his to lose.
