The Chicago White Sox have scratched Sale from Wednesday's start against the Boston Red Sox because of a mild tendinitis in his left shoulder. Sale was scheduled to pitch against the unbeaten Clay Buchholz. Hector Santiago will start in his place.

The White Sox say they expect Sale to make his next scheduled start against the Cubs on Tuesday. The left-hander is 5-2 with a 2.53 ERA and has thrown 23 consecutive scoreless innings.
Sale threw 7 2-3 shutout innings while limiting the Angels to three hits and three walks in a 3-0 win on Friday.

Sale has recorded a win in four of his last five starts, allowing only five runs in 38 innings.
Sale took a perfect game into the seventh inning before finishing with a one-hitter, and Chicago beat the Los Angeles Angels 3-0 on Sunday night to avoid a three-game sweep.

Sale struck out seven on just 98 pitches for his first career shutout and third win in his last four outings. The one-hitter was Chicago's first since Zach Stewart had one on Sept. 5, 2011, at Minnesota. He pitched the third one-hitter in three days in the majors, joining St. Louis' Shelby Miller and Boston's Jon Lester, who both had theirs on Friday night.
Sale allowed one run and six hits over 7 1-3 innings Monday in a 2-1, 11-inning win at Kansas City.

Jake Peavy will miss a second consecutive start for the Chicago White Sox on Monday because of back spasms, and Sale will pitch in his place.

Sale will start Monday's game on his regular four days' rest. The left-hander will be opposed by Royals right-hander James Shields, a rematch of the season opener that the White Sox won 1-0.
Sale improved to 3-2 Wednesday as he held the Rangers to six hits, two walks and two runs over seven innings in Chicago's 5-2 victory.

Sale has settled into a nice groove, going 2-1 with a 2.57 ERA over his last three outings.
Sale overcame a shaky first two innings to combine with two relievers on a five-hitter and Adam Dunn homered to lead the White Sox to a 5-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday night.

Sale allowed three runs, two earned, and four hits over seven innings of Thursday's 3-1 loss to Toronto. He walked one and struck out six.
