Scherzer held the Indians to one run on two hits over eight innings in the Tigers' 5-1 win on Tuesday.

Scherzer's lights-out performance improved him to 6-0 with a 3.61 ERA. He's struck out 75 batters over 62 1-3 innings.

Scherzer took advantage of more great run support Friday in a 10-4 win over the Tribe.

Hours after rotation-mate Justin Verlander got the biggest contract ever given to a pitcher, Scherzer extended his dominant spring training with six innings of one-hit ball as the Detroit Tigers beat the Tampa Bay Rays 8-3 on Friday.

Scherzer, the Tigers' No. 5 starter, finishes the spring with a 0.57 ERA. He struck out nine and has only allowed one earned run over 25 1-3 innings.

The Detroit Tigers have agreed to a one-year, $6,725,000 contract with Scherzer and avoided salary arbitration.

Scherzer was 16-7 last season with a 3.74 and struck out 231, a total that trailed only teammate Justin Verlander. He was 1-0 with a 2.08 ERA in the postseason, helping Detroit reach the World Series.
