Bourn, batting .304 in 17 contests, was 3 for 19 (.158) with seven strikeouts in his first six games back from a lacerated right hand.
Bourn, who has only 24 career homers over eight seasons, is hitting .333 with two home runs and two RBIs in 45 at-bats.
Bourn had been sidelined since slicing open his right index finger while diving into first base on April 14. He was eligible to return on April 30, but the cut didn't heal in time and Bourn needed some extra time. Bourn is expected to play this weekend when the Indians play a three-game series against first-place Detroit.
The 30-year-old will bat leadoff and play center for new Indians manager Terry Francona, who met with Bourn before the Indians had their first full-squad workout.
Bourn batted .274 with nine homers, 57 RBIs and 42 steals last season for the Braves. As long as there isn't a hangup, the 30-year-old Bourn, who has remained on the market all winter, will move into the Indians' starting lineup.
