Reyes says he is progressing in his rehabilitation from a severely sprained left ankle, and the shortstop looks forward to joining his Toronto Blue Jays teammates on the field before the All-Star break.

Injured while sliding into second base on April 12, Reyes has been rehabbing near his Long Island home and will return with the Blue Jays to Toronto after the weekend series. Reyes says he recently began jogging lightly and has begun hitting soft toss in the last few days.

Reyes pounded out four hits and drove in two runs in a 6-4 loss to Boston on Friday.

Reyes also had two doubles and hit his first homer of the season.

Reyes says he was "shocked" the Miami Marlins traded him. The All-Star shortstop is now with the Toronto Blue Jays. He was part of a 12-player swap that came a less than a year after he signed a $106 million contract with the Marlins.

Reyes worked out with Toronto for the first time on Friday at spring training. The former NL batting champion says Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria always assured Reyes that he wouldn't trade him.
