Blue Jays outfielder Melky Cabrera got a bit of a scare while batting in the third inning of Toronto's game in Tampa Bay on Wednesday night.

Immediately after he took a strike from Rays pitcher Chris Archer, a loud crash of thunder startled the Jays slugger.

Cabrera needed a moment to regain his composure before flying out to centre.

The game was held up for 30 minutes during the third inning when lightning struck a nearby power station, knocking out a bank of lights.
