Matt Morgan, Justin Shafer sign with Blue Jays after MLB draft

Fourth-rounder Matt Morgan and eighth-round selection Justin Shafer have both signed deals with the Toronto Blue Jays, becoming the first of the team's 41 draft picks this week to sign contract.

The Toronto Blue Jays have signed two players from the 2014 MLB amateur draft, both from the top 10 rounds.

Fourth-round pick Matt Morgan and eighth-round selection Justin Shafer have both signed deals with the American League club, becoming the first of the Jays' 41 picks to ink deals.

Morgan, 18, is a catcher signed out of Thorsby High School in Alabama. He was chosen 114th overall on Day 2 of the draft Friday.

Shafer, 21, is a right-handed pitcher from the University of Florida. He was picked 234th overall Friday.
