R.J. Swindle has been added to Canada's World Baseball Classic roster.

He takes the spot of injured reliever Jesse Crain.

Swindle, a left-handed reliever from Vancouver, played for Canada at the WBC qualifying round in Germany last year.

The 29-year-old free agent appeared in 13 games with triple-A Memphis last season with a 4.76 earned-run average.

Swindle's major-league career has been brief, with just three games played for Philadelphia in 2008 and six more with Milwaukee in '09.

Crain withdrew after suffering a shoulder injury at spring training with the Chicago White Sox.
