The Toronto Blue Jays have signed 22 of the 44 players selected in the 2012 baseball draft, including first-round pick D.J. Davis.
Davis, a 17-year-old left-handed hitter, batted .373 with seven home runs and 27 RBIs in 26 games this season of Stone County High School in Wiggins, Miss. The outfielder, one of Toronto's two first-round picks, was selected 17th overall.
Two of the players signed by the Blue Jays are Canadians: left-handed pitcher Shane Dawson of Lethbridge Community College in Alberta, and infielder Shaun Valeriote of Brock University in Ontario.
Dawson was selected by Toronto in the 17th round, and 535th overall. Valeriote was taken in the 39th round, and was the 1,195th player selected.
