Oft-injured Seattle Mariners pitcher Erik Bedard is expected to miss his scheduled start on Saturday against Boston because of a tight right hamstring.

The left-hander from Navan, Ont., threw a season-high 110 pitches in a season-low 4 2/3 innings on Sunday at Minnesota.

An official announcement on Bedard's status probably will be made Friday, according to Mariners manager Don Wakamatsu.

Bedard, who sports a 2-1 record and 2.53 earned-run average in seven starts this season, has been relatively healthy after dealing with injuries to his shoulder, hip and back in the 2008 campaign.

Wakamatsu said the Mariners would likely fill his spot in the rotation from the current staff.

Left-hander Garrett Olson, who has a 2.57 ERA, is among the possibilities.
