Infielder Tony Fernandez is back for his fourth go-round with the Toronto Blue Jays.
The 38-year-old infielder, who turns 39 on June 30, was signed as a free agent by the Blue Jays, who made the announcement Friday.
Fernandez began his career in Toronto in 1983. He was traded to San Diego after the 1990 season and rejoined the team late in 1993, helping the Jays win their second straight World Series.
He returned to Toronto in 1998 and left the Jays after the 1999 season.
After a stint with Seibu Lions of the Japanese league last year, Fernandez signed with the Milwaukee Brewers during the off-season. He was released by the Brewers last week.
Sporting a lifetime .288 batting average, Fernandez has registered 2,258 hits in 2,110 career Major League games. He has also played for the Yankees, Mets, Indians and Reds.
