Jose Bautista will be back for another season with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Toronto signed the infielder-outfielder to a $2.4-million US, one-year deal Sunday. Bautista, 29, hit 13 home runs and 40 runs batted in for a .235 batting average last season.
The Jays also signed injured right-hander Dustin McGowan to a $500,000, one-year contract, along with outfielder Joey Gathright and catcher Raul Chavez, who were both given minor-league contracts.
McGowan missed last season recovering from shoulder and knee surgery.
Gathright split his season with the Chicago Cubs and Boston, playing 37 games and recording a .267 average.
Chavez played 51 games with the Jays last season, driving in two home runs and 15 RBIs for a .258 average.
