Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Gustavo Chacin was arrested early Friday morning for driving under the influence, according to reports.

A club official confirmed to that Chacin was stopped by police just before 4 a.m. on Friday and arrested after registering a blood-alcohol level almost twice the legal limit. He was released on $500 US bond.

"The club is aware of the situation, but for us to say anything at this time would be premature," the official told

Chacin is expected to occupy a spot in Toronto's starting rotation behind Roy Halladay and A.J. Burnett. He went 9-4 last season.
