Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Gustavo Chacin was arrested early Friday morning for driving under the influence, according to reports.
A club official confirmed to mlb.com that Chacin was stopped by police just before 4 a.m. on Friday and arrested after registering a blood-alcohol level almost twice the legal limit. He was released on $500 US bond.
"The club is aware of the situation, but for us to say anything at this time would be premature," the official told mlb.com.
Chacin is expected to occupy a spot in Toronto's starting rotation behind Roy Halladay and A.J. Burnett. He went 9-4 last season.
