On July 1, there will be a CBC Sports special called Vancouver 2010: Inside the Bid for the Winter Olympics. The special is a behind-the-scenes look at the Vancouver bid committee's quest for the 2010 Games, beginning just before the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City.

The documentary will air at 7 p.m. local time/8 p.m. Maritimes/8:30 p.m. Newfoundland

Live from a packed GM Place in Vancouver, CBC News Chief Correspondent Peter Mansbridge anchors coverage of the IOC selection. Joining him with commentary is Cassie Campbell, a member of the 2002 Olympic gold medal-winning Canadian women's hockey team. The bid committee is holding a sold-out rally at GM Place, where athletes, local community leaders, politicians, and entertainers join the public as they await the decision from Prague. Natalie Clancy and Erica Johnson report from among the crowd.

CBC Sports' Brian Williams reports live from Prague on last-minute manoeuvring at the site where the IOC is meeting to make their selection. CBC News' Ian Hanomansing tracks reaction of the Canadian bid representatives (they include Prime Minister Jean Chrétien, B.C. Premier Gordon Campbell and Vancouver Mayor Larry Campbell).

Live in Whistler, Gloria Macarenko interviews expectant residents at a public rally. Coverage from the other contending cities — Salzburg, Austria, and Pyeongchang, South Korea — is also presented.
