South Korea speedskaters dominate early at worlds

South Korea has dominated the first day of the short track speedskating world championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Yoon-Gy Kwak posted a time of two minutes 24.316 seconds to win the men's 1,500-metre title Friday. Teammates Si-Bak Sung (2:24.373) and Ho-Suk Lee (2:24.459) took the silver and bronze medals, respectively.

Seung-Hi Park of South Korea took the women's 1,500-metre title in a time of 2:21.570, beating teammates Eun-Byul Lee on 2:21.665 and Ha-Ri Cho's 2:21.821.

Kalyna Roberge of Saint-Etienne-de-Lauzon, Que., was fifth.
