Canada sweeps skicross podium

B.C., Manitoba athletes top World Cup race

Last Updated: Friday, March 12, 2010 | 10:12 AM ET

Kelsey Serwa led a Canadian sweep of the women's podium Friday at a freestyle skiing World Cup skicross race while fellow Canadian Chris Del Bosco took bronze in the men's event.

Serwa, of Kelowna, B.C., beat Olympic champion Ashleigh McIvor of Whistler, B.C., with Winnipeg's Danielle Poleschuk completing the Canadian sweep. Anna Holmlund of Sweden was fourth in the race at Grindelwald, Switzerland.

Olympic bronze medallist Audun Groenvold of Norway edged Olympic champion Michael Schmid in the men's race.

Schmid leads Del Bosco, who lives in Vail, Colo., by 178 points in the ski cross standings with two events left, starting Sunday at Meiringen, Switzerland. A win is worth 100 points.

France's Ophelie David has a 38-point lead over McIvor in the women's standings.
