Shani Davis of the United States and Germany's Jenny Wolf each shaved time off their own world records in World Cup speedskating on Friday.

Davis completed the 1,500-metre race in one minute 41.04 seconds while skating in the final pairing Friday at the Utah Olympic Oval. The 27-year-old set the previous mark of 1:41.80 on the same track in March.

American Chad Hedrick was second in 1:42.50, with South Korea's Mo Tae-Bum third in 1:42.85.

Denny Morrison of Fort St. John, B.C., was fifth in 1:43.18 while Regina's Lucas Makowsky was eighth in 1:43.53.

Mathieu Giroux of Pointe-aux-Trembles, Que., was 18th with a time of 1:45.31.

Davis leads the World Cup standings at the distance with 480 points. Norway's Havard Bokko is second with 350 points and Hedrick third with 268 points.

In the women's 500, Wolf skated 37 seconds flat, 2-100ths faster than the world record she established at the Calgary Oval in 2007.

Beixing Wang of China was second in 37.14 seconds, followed by South Korea's Sang-Hwa Lee at 37.24.

The skaters are also 1-2-3 in the World Cup standings, with Wolf holding the top spot with 680 points.

Christine Nesbitt of London, Ont., was 13th in a time of 38.12 seconds.

Martina Sablikova of the Czech Republic extended her lead in the 3,000 metre World Cup standings over Germany's Stephanie Beckert.

Sablikova skated to victory in 3:56.29 seconds, 1.49 seconds better than Beckert.

Ottawa's Kristina Groves won bronze in 3:58.67. Groves won gold in the 1,500 last week in Calgary.

Sablikova has 460 points, with Beckert at 430. Groves is fourth in the standings, behind Daniella Anschutz Thoms of Germany.

Clara Hughes of Glen Sutton, Que., finished eighth in a time of 4:02.14, while Winnipeg's Brittany Schussler was ninth, coming in at 4:03.17.

Winnipeg's Cindy Klassen was 12th in 4:04.30.
