Olympic bronze medallist Priscilla Lopes-Schliep of Whitby, Ont., finished second behind American Lolo Jones in the 60-metre hurdles event at the BW-Bank Indoor Meet in Karlsruhe, Germany on Sunday.

It marked the first loss Lopes-Schliep has suffered this season. She had won gold in her last seven races, including a victory Friday at a meet in Paris. The wins were all at the 60-metre distance.

Lopes-Schliep crossed the line in 7.96 seconds. Jones, the reigning world indoor champion in the women's hurdles, won with a time of 7.82. Ukrainian Olena Krasovska was third.

Jones bounced back to win in Karlsruhe after clipping a hurdle and falling during a meet in Dusseldorf, Germany, on Friday.

Lopes-Schliep vaulted into the Canadian spotlight with her bronze medal performance at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She beat out a number of runners at the line, winning the medal in mere thousandths of a second.

The race was also memorable for Jones, but for all the wrong reasons. The Olympic favourite was in total control of the race before she tripped over a hurdle and crashed out of the final.
