CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada Silverado Power Picks contest (“Contest”)

from 5.00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (“ET”) Friday , October 11th , 2013 to 11:59 p.m. ET Thursday, December 26th, 2013 (“Contest Period”)


No purchase required. To enter the Contest, visit the CBC website and log on to www.cbcsports.ca/powerpicks (the “Website”) to cast your vote for the Power Pick Player of the Week during the Contest Period.

Register on www.cbcsports.ca/powerpicks and provide the necessary contact information. Each Friday during the Contest Period, a Hockey Night In Canada (“HNIC”) rotational team member will select three different players who exemplify outstanding performance from the previous week. Entrants can then vote for who they think should be the “Power Pick Player of the Week” and will be entered into the Contest.

New picks are posted on Friday at 9:00am ET and entrants will have until the following Thursday to submit their votes. To be valid, entries for the weekly draw must be received by 11:59 p.m. ET on the Thursday preceding each Draw Date during the Contest Period.

Limit of one entry per person per day during the weekly Contest Period. If you attempt or are suspected of attempting to enter more than once per day or use robotic, automatic, and programmed or any entry methods not authorized by these rules, it shall be deemed as tampering and will void your entries.


Contest is open to all Canadian residents who have reached the age of majority in their province or territory of residence at the Contest opening date.

Employees of CBC, General Motors of Canada Limited (“GMCL”), and their affiliates, as well as such employees’ immediate family (father/mother, brother/sister, son/daughter) or persons living under the same roof are not eligible to enter this Contest.


A random draw will be made by CBC in Toronto, Ontario on the Monday of each week, starting October 14th, during the Contest Period at 9:30 a.m. ET (each a “Draw Date”) from among all eligible entries received by 11:59 p.m. ET on the previous Thursday. Weekly winners will not be eligible for any future weekly prizes; however, they will be eligible for the Grand Prize draw at the end of the Contest Period. All valid entries that were not selected for a weekly prize on the Draw Dates, will be entered into the Grand Prize Draw. The Grand Prize Draw will take place on Monday, December 30th 2013.

Winner(s) will be contacted by telephone [or by e-mail ] during the week following the draw and should claim their prize as instructed by CBC by no later than 5 days after the date they are initially contacted. If a winner cannot be reached within 5 days following the first attempt of contact, incorrectly answers the mathematical skill-testing question, declines the prize, or fails to return the required release form, the prize shall be forfeited and CBC has the right, at its sole discretion, to select another winner. In both instances, the first selected entrant to correctly answer the mandatory mathematical skill-testing question and return the signed declaration and release shall be declared the winner, subject to meeting all the conditions described in these rules.


There are 12 prizes for the weekly draw available to be won in total. Each weekly prize consists of a Hockey Night in Canada commemorative hockey jersey, size large. Limit of one prize per person.

The approximate retail value of each weekly prize is $100.00 CAD.

There is one (1) Grand Prize (the "Grand Prize") available to be won from all valid entries received during the Contest Period, consisting of one (1) 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2LT Crew Cab Standard Box 4WD with the V8 Ecotec engine and the Silverado Special Edition package with a manufacturer's suggested retail price ("MSRP") of $47,025 CAD.

The Grand Prize includes destination/freight charges. Colour, accessories, and other specifics of the Grand Prize will be at GMCL's sole discretion. Manufacturer's warranty applies to the Grand Prize. Upon notification, Prize winner will personally take delivery of the Grand Prize from a Chevrolet dealership within Canada reasonably close to the Prize winner's home as designated by GMCL within 2 months of being declared the Prize winner. Prize winner must present adequate personal identification to claim the Grand Prize vehicle. The Grand Prize vehicle will not be released unless Prize winner first shows proof of having a valid driver's licence in the province in which he/she resides and satisfactory insurance, as determined by GMCL. Prize winner is solely responsible for all taxes and expenses which are not included in the Grand Prize description above, including but not limited to: registration and licence fees, insurance, additional accessories and all other costs incurred in claiming, registering or using the vehicle. Prize winner is responsible for all costs associated with any upgrade or option packages he/she may request and which GMCL, in its sole discretion, is willing to provide or has provided respecting any vehicle. GMCL at its discretion may substitute a 2014 model year vehicle of the same or like model and style in the event of lack of vehicle availability due to limited production or any other reason.

Any costs or expenses incurred by the Prize winner in claiming or using the Grand Prize will be the responsibility of the Prize winner. Grand Prize must be accepted as described in these Contest Rules and cannot be transferred to another person, substituted for another prize, or exchanged in whole or in part for cash, subject to the provisions set forth elsewhere in these Rules.

Total approximate retail value of all prizes is $48,225.00 CAD.


5.1 To be declared a winner, the selected contestant must:

a) be reached by CBC at the phone number listed on the entrant’s entry form within 5 days hours of the Draw Date.

b) first correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question.

c) be eligible according to the Contest rules and sign a release declaring their eligibility as stipulated in Section 2 of these rules; agreeing that their name, image and/or voice may be used for advertising purposes related to this Contest free of charge; and releasing CBC and their affiliates, as well as their respective directors, officers and employees (the “Contest Parties”) from all liability for any damage or loss arising from participation in this Contest or from the awarding, acceptance or use of the prize.

5.2 Failure to comply with any of the above conditions or otherwise with the Contest rules will result in the disqualification of the selected entrant. In this event, a new random draw from the remaining valid entries received would be performed to award the prize and the entrant selected, must be able to be reached by phone within 48 hours of the new draw. . In the event that no entrant is deemed eligible according to these rules and a prize winner cannot be determined, no prize will be awarded. If, as a result of an error relating to the entry process, drawing or any other aspect of the Contest or for any reason, there are more potential winners of the prize than contemplated in the Contest rules, CBC may, at its sole discretion, conduct a random draw amongst all eligible prize claimants after the Contest closing date to award the prize or may terminate or amend the Contest in whole or in part without notification to Contest participants.

5.3 The prize shall be accepted as is and may not be exchanged or refunded for an amount of money, sold or transferred. No substitutions will be allowed. Any unused portion of a prize will be forfeited.

5.4 If the prize cannot be awarded as described in these rules, CBC reserves the right to substitute a prize or prize component with another of comparable value, as determined in their sole discretion.

5.5 Refusal to accept the prize releases the Contest Parties from any obligation toward the winner.

5.6 If a contestant makes any false statement, (s)he will be automatically disqualified from the Contest.

5.7 The Contest Parties assume no liability for any loss, damage or injury, including without limitation: (i) lost, stolen, delayed, damaged, misdirected, late, destroyed, illegible or incomplete entries; (ii) loss, theft or damage to software or computer or telephone data, including any breach of privacy; (iii) fraudulent calls; (iv) inability of any person to participate in the Contest for any reason including mistaken addresses on mail or e-mail; technical, computer or telephone malfunctions or other problems with computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, or software; congestion on the internet or at any website, or any combination of the foregoing; (v) damage to any person’s computer, including as a result of playing or downloading any material relating to the Contest; (vi) any delay or inability to act resulting from an event or situation beyond their control, including a strike, lockout or other labour dispute at their location or the locations of the organizations and businesses whose services are used to administer this Contest; or (vii) prizes that are lost, damaged or misdirected during shipping.

5.8 CBC reserves the right to cancel or suspend this Contest should a virus, bug or other cause beyond their reasonable control corrupt the security or proper administration of the Contest. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such an attempt be made, CBC reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution.

5.9 All personal information, such as name and contact information, is collected by CBC solely for the purposes of administering this Contest and shall not be used for any other purpose without your express consent. 5.10 If the identity of a contestant is disputed, the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of entry will be deemed to be the contestant. The individual assigned to the e-mail address for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address is considered the authorized account holder. A selected contestant may be required to provide proof that (s)he is the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the selected entry. All entries must be submitted from a valid e-mail account that may be identified by reverse domain name search. The sole determinant of time for the purposes of receipt of a valid entry in this Contest will be the Contest server.

5.11 Odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received during each weekly voting period for weekly prizes, or during the entire Contest Period for the Grand Prize. All entries that are incomplete, illegible, damaged, irregular, have been submitted through illicit means, using any robotic, automatic programmed method that artificially increases the odds of winning or do not conform to or satisfy any condition of the rules may be disqualified by the CBC. CBC is not responsible for any errors or omissions in printing or advertising this Contest.

5.12 CBC reserves the right to amend the Contest rules or to terminate the Contest at any time without any liability to any contestant. Any amendments to these Contest rules will be posted on the Website www.cbcsports.ca/powerpicks

5.13 By entering, you agree to abide by the Contest rules and the decisions of CBC, which decisions are final and binding on all contestants.
