It's a slick little play.

A pretty effective one, too.

Doesn't have a name yet, though.

Well, it might have one in Pittsburgh by now, but odds are that if so, it's one that couldn't be repeated here.

Pittsburgh won't have to reach back very far for a Game 7 experience to draw on as it prepared to meet meets Tampa Bay Wednesday night at Consol Energy Center in the final game of their first-round playoff series.

The question is whether the Penguins will really want to.

Tampa Bay beat Pittsburgh, 4-2, at the St. Pete Times Forum Monday night to send their first-round playoff series to a seventh game.

Actually, another in a series of them, the way Lightning coach Guy Boucher looks at it.
"We just played two Game 7s because that is the position we are in," he said. "That fifth game was a do-or-die for us and that sixth game was a do-or-die. The seventh game for us is a do-or-die."

Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh have reached the point in their playoff series where they don't agree on much.

Skirmishes after whistles are becoming more frequent and intense, and while there didn't seem to be a lot of animosity between the players 10 days or so ago, there certainly is now.

But there is at least one thing on which the teams appear to concur: The Lightning's 8-2 victory in Pittsburgh in Game 5 isn't likely to have any more of an impact on Game 6 Monday night at the St. Pete Times Forum than a 4-2 or 5-3 decision would have.

While players on both sides pointed out that winning, not the margin of victory, is all that matters, it will be interesting to see how Pittsburgh responds to the severe beating they suffered in Game 5 against Tampa Bay on Saturday.

Maybe it wouldn't mean as much coming from another guy, but when Tampa Bay winger Simon Gagne talks about how the Lightning can overcome its 3-1 deficit in a first-round series against Pittsburgh, you have to listen.

Pittsburgh won Game 4 of its first-round playoff series against Tampa when James Neal scored early in the second overtime Wednesday.

But a case could be made that the Penguins won the game - or at least put themselves in position to do so - when they killed a series of Tampa Bay power plays when the outcome was still very much in doubt.

Maybe James Neal wasn't slumping at all.

Perhaps he just has a well-developed sense of the dramatic.

Whatever the case, Neal - who had scored just once since being acquired from Dallas shortly before the NHL trade deadline - got goal No. 2 at a most opportune moment, beating Tampa Bay goalie Dwayne Roloson from along the right-wing boards at 3:38 of double-overtime at the St. Pete Times Forum Wednesday night.
