Bruins happy for home ice

Friday will mark the second Game 7 of the playoffs for the Bruins and 21st in the history of the club. Boston is 10-10 lifetime in must-win games, but 10-6 on home ice which coach Claude Julien hopes to use to his advantage.

Before Game 6 of the East final, Tampa coach Guy Boucher was asked about referee Eric Furlatt. In the three previous Lightning playoff games that Furlatt had officiated, the calls were 22-13 in favour of the opposition.

On May 17, in a 6-5 Bruins win, Tampa was called for eight penalties to the Bruins' six. On April 25, in Tampa's 4-2 win over Pittsburgh, the Lightning were tagged with seven penalties to the Penguins' four. On April 13, Tampa lost to Pittsburgh 3-0. Tampa was whistled for seven penalties while Pittsburgh was called for three. Read more »

The Boston Bruins have two cracks at eliminating the Lightning to set up a Stanley Cup final faceoff against Vancouver. But they are intending on finishing Tampa Bay's season on Wednesday night and not allowing the Lightning to make a final flight to Boston for Game 7.

Roloson back in Tampa goal for Game 6

Halfway through the third period, Tim Thomas made one of the best saves of his career. With the Bruins holding a 2-1 lead, Thomas saw Eric Brewer wind up from the point.

"I saw him getting ready to take the shot, but I couldn't see the puck," Thomas said. "That's probably why he had to shoot wide -- our guy taking away the shooting lanes. I picked it up and it was somewhere about halfway to me. I saw it was going wide."

Brewer's shot sailed wide of the net and glanced off the end boards. The rebound came out to Steve Downie at the left post. Downie was looking at a point-blank chance to tie the game. Read more »

Signs point to Roloson for Game 5

The Lightning held an optional morning skate at TD Garden, and all indications signaled that Dwayne Roloson will start in goal for Game 5 Monday night (CBC, CBCSports.ca, 8 p.m.ET).

Boucher tries to be coy about his goalies
