Boston Bruins defenceman Johnny Boychuk had a scare in his team's 3-2 overtime win over the Rangers Thursday night in Game 1 of their second-round Stanley Cup playoff series after being hit from behind by New York's Taylor Pyatt.
A thunderous echo gave way to a few tense moments while Johnny Boychuk lay motionless on the ice.

The Boston Bruins defenceman was face down, as New York Rangers forward Taylor Pyatt stood over him after delivering a big hit from behind on the six-foot-two blue-liner 2:22 into the second period of Boston's 3-2 overtime win Thursday night in Game 1 of their second-round Stanley Cup playoffs series.

Boychuk was playing the puck in the corner when Pyatt engaged him with a questionable blow, sending him flopping to the ice as the latter's arm appeared to make contact with Boychuk's head. Pyatt was assessed a two-minute minor penalty for boarding.

Boychuk left the game briefly but was able to return.
