Joffrey Lupul just came back from a lengthy absence due to an injury, and he's hoping he won't be forced to sit out for a different reason.
The Toronto Maple Leafs winger, who missed nearly two months of action with a fractured forearm, levelled Tampa Bay Lightning defenceman Victor Hedman during the third period of Toronto's 4-2 win
on Wednesday night, leaving the 22-year-old native of Sweden shaken up.
Less than a minute into the third period, Hedman -- who has had concussion issues in the past -- had just dumped the puck in the Leafs' zone when Lupul nailed him with a high hit just before Toronto's blue-line. It appeared the principle point of contact from the shoulder hit was Hedman's head, while the Swede left briefly but returned to the game.
The 29-year-old Leafs forward was assessed a minor penalty on the play for an illegal check to the head. Take a look at it here:
We want to hear your take: Do you think Lupul should be suspended, or fined for his hit? Or was it clean and should go unpunished? Let us know in the comments section below.
