A collision in Thursday's game between the Vancouver Canucks and Phoenix Coyotes sent Daniel Sedin to the locker room for facial repairs.

Early in the second period, the Canucks winger was at the centre ice red line when he picked up a pass from teammate Jannik Hansen. Sedin raced into the Coyotes' zone and cut in on Phoenix defenceman Michael Stome who shoved him into netminder Mike Smith. Sedin went face-first into Smith's glove, then collided into the post as both players went down.

Sedin skated off to the locker room with a bloodied nose and eventually returned as the Canucks went on to win 2-1. Smith finished the period but was relieved by Jason LaBarbera in the third period.
