The 2012 first-round draft pick was called up Monday and played in Buffalo's 5-1 loss at Winnipeg the following day. Grigorenko was then returned to Rochester following the game, in which he had one shot and logged just under 17 minutes of ice time.

The Sabres announced Monday that they assigned Grigorenko and forward Zac Dalpe to their American Hockey League affiliate in Rochester. It's the latest setback for Grigorenko, who has had difficulty breaking into the Sabres' lineup since being selected in the first round of the 2012 draft. He has three goals and five assists in 43 career games split over the past two seasons in Buffalo.
