The Chicago Blackhawks have placed Kane on long-term injured reserve after having surgery to repair a fractured left clavicle.

Kane, who leads Chicago with 27 goals and 37 assists, left Tuesday night's 3-2 shootout victory over Florida after falling hard into the boards. The team said a fully recovery is expected in approximately 12 weeks.

Kane had a goal and two assists in Wednesday's overtime loss to Vancouver.

Kane leads the NHL in points.

Kane scored and added an assist to Chicago's 2-1 overtime victory against Winnipeg on Friday.

Kane's performance moved him into a tie for the league lead with 58 points.
